So I was perusing MySpace and Moustache Mondays, L.A.'s "Glam Boy" spot, reminded me of this phenomenon while posting their club bulletin along with this flashback video:
"Your Momma's On Crack Rock"-The Dogs
Then, I found this:
An Amy Winehouse Rehab Parody-
There are a zillion Crack Head documentaries including this man's love for Cheetos and dancing:
This gentleman is my personal favorite:
The list of artists who have attacked the topic in their work is endless....
"Dopeman"-N.W.A.
Even Metal bands have touted the cultural effects of this drug:
"Crack Baby"-The Neighbors Hate Us
The seminal song that really brought the issue to light:
"Crack Killed Apple Jack"-General Kane
After my extensive search for humorous and or interesting material to post, I eventually encountered the harsh reality; the all too prevalent existence of drug addiction which has helped to eliminate multitudes of self esteem, which isn't funny at all:

And last, but not least, my favorite pictorial essay/blog on the controversial subject...
It has an extremely witty narrative, sad as the situation might be, so don't sleep on clicking the link!
It can be found HERE...

BEAUTIFUL WAXY NIGHTMARES

George Evelyn aka DJ Ease is back with his Nightmares On Wax project and their new LP, Thought So... is again scheduled for release this week, after being promised to the masses in the month of August.
Though born in Leeds, UK he is currently holding court in Spain's notorious Ibiza, so this makes for an interesting texture on the latest recording, giving it an outer space vibe in sequence with Nightmares' usual Hipster-Hop sampled fusion.
The Big Band which consists of Robin Taylor-Firth on Keys, Chyna Brown, Ella May, Mozez [of Zero 7 fame???] & Ricky Ranking on Vocals, Chris Dawkins on Guitar, Drummer Ize and Hamlet Luton on Bass Guitar, aids our sultan of Downtempo in his quest for the groove.

Sault Of The Earth...

Nuyorican Poet Saul Williams threw it down at The Southern Comfort Music Experience in San Diego's Petco Park Saturday, as punk-funk, glam-rock, alter ego Niggy Tardust.
With his Tar Spangled Band; CX KiDTRONiK on the MPC, Guitarist Davin Givhan and 3 Bean Stew's Kwame B. Pierce on Synths & Keys, shades of Afrika Bambaaata and Iggy Pop fused their indelible set as if Clinton's Mothership had landed again, some 30 years later.
The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust! appeared as a web only release last year and was produced by Nine Inch Nails frontman, Trent Reznor. A mixture of electronic rock & roots, it is definitely a departure from the Hip-Hop styling of Saul's earlier work yet the knowledge in his amazing prose is still in the mix.
Their performance was enlightening.
Unique.
Passionate.
Necessary.
