Amsterdam based graphic designer and illustrator Pieter ‘Parra’ Janssen is one of the key players in Amsterdam’s contemporary youth culture. Designer of Rockwell Clothing and responsible for the most remarkable party flyers and posters around town he’s in the pit of both the sneakerhead community as well as Hollands best party syndicates.

An underground star in his hometown, where fans scour the streets to tear down his posters, Parra's work is treasured by a new generation of design fanatics. A natural self taught Typographer and Graphic Artist, Parra grew up living with his artist father. Surrounded by colour, oil paint, wood, & Rubenesque paintings he immersed himself in early nineties music and street culture, developing the unique style he's know for today.

Taking a select few commercial design jobs per year Parra devotes the bulk of his output to flyers, posters & identities for friends & admirers, making his work available for everyone to use, keep or discard as they wish. Beneficiaries have included skate shops Patta and Kids Love Wax, his own label The Records van Rockwell, the band Rednose Distrikt, avant garde rap artists, events, films & club nights.  His first solo gallery show, "Jobs I did for friends for under £100" took place at London's Kemistry Gallery in March 2005 and sold out in three days. Hugely prolific, Parra also designs his own streetwear label, Rockwell clothing, launched in 2000 and stocked in London, Tokyo, Berlin and New York.

The Controller One is an original concept design by The Ruckazoid.

This turntable was designed to allow DJ's to play a vinyl or digital vinyl source as an instrument. It has full melodic capabilities, can be controlled by a foot pedal and even MIDI, as well as other groundbreaking features. This turntable can change the face of turntablism forever! The Ruckazoid manipulates the vinyl, and uses the pitch buttons on the Controller One turntable to create the melodies.

CONTROLLER ONE FEATURES:

*Use the pitch fader or the SCALE BUTTON to match the pitch speed instantly to major and minor scales.

*Multiple pitch modes which allow you to use the fader or the buttons to get different note changes. Allows the user to use the turntable in a traditional fashion too.

*Change the scale with the foot switch while you scratch. Just as a guitarist would do with a wah pedal or guitar effects. Allows you to fully utilize the turntable with the scratch hand and feet to to control speeds and pitches.

*The vinyl sound can be tuned, for when you play with other instruments or in a band. It's just as though a band or orchestra would do before a live performance, tuning their gear to bring the right sounds to the audience.

*If you're used to traditional pitch controls, switch the pitch fader function to PITCH mode and play with a variable pitch range of }8/10/60%.

*Programmable buttons allow you to assign your own pitch percentages to any button for your own custom performance.

*Midi controls the speed of the turntable with a midi controller. This is great for use of hip hop producers wanting to maintain the richness of sound in analog records without losing depth when 16 leveling their samples.

*7SEG pitch LED for easy view and to know what note or pitch point you are on is located at the top corner, to make sure you're on the right key and sound.

*Powerful AC direct drive motor provides the best torque and stable speeds to perform the best in sounds.

*The pitch bend shifts up and down in half tones to play sharp and flat notes, enabling you to hit the notes and keys to the exactness.

*Solid wood body which promotes a richer sound, the best sounding turntable ever!

10 Questions:

1. Where in France are you all originally from?

Nico : I come from a little town near Strasbourg , with green hills , very easy girls and now i live in Strasbourg : Krutenau Zoo / Krutemox.

Frankie : I come from Nice, Côte d'azur, i was 8 years old when i'm coming in Strasbourg, Alsace, and the life was totally opposite.

Sam : I come from Strasbourg France, Krutenau-ZOO district.

2. How did you get linked up with your mates Remsey & Sam?

Nico : I hooked up first with Remsey Lef in the beginning of the 2000's to form the B.U.M.S ( Bad Underground Mind Sleepers ), we put together a old-school/90's hip-hop radio show for 7 years and then I met Sam last year and put him into the B.P.R.C which is the "electro" side of B.U.M.S

Sam : I met Nico via the BOUM Party which is "THE" party in Strasbourg and Nico's baby, at this time I wanted to put an artist in his line up, then I splited with this artist and started to work with him, it was a year ago.

3. Since you're known for blending Hip Hop and Electro so seamlessly, who do you find are your biggest creative influences?

Nico : when I was around 11 years old , I was destroying my sound system by making Hip-House Dance Megamixes with 2 tapedecks , then you know how it goes : Wu-Tang, Blackmoon, The Cure, Prince, Mobb Deep, Kid n' Play, Bobby Brown, Maestro Fresh Wes, Eric B and Rakim, Bell Biv Devoe and so many others.

Frankie : I was always in the music since my 12 Years, with so many influences, different music styles... but before I was influenced by : Bobby Lapointe, King Crimson, Hound Dog Taylor, Pink Floyd, Touré Kounda, Funkadelic, Da Lench Mob, Ultramagnetic MC's, Rap Zone, Miles Davis, Armand Van Helden, Rolling Stones, Tim Dog, Dance music, Technotronic, Ice Cube, and so many groups or rappers that I've forgot the name, the list is too long!

4. What got you into the "Game"?

Nico : Word to mother, I like big tits girls, money too and my dream is to fuck Lindsay Lohan, Mariah Carey and Brandy Talore in a foursome but I surely like to mix for everybody, coz everybody need to get drunk / wild / naked and have fun. When I was young, I wanted to be an archaeologist then a French teacher, now i'm mixing and i'm going to open a DC Shoes store...

Frankie : Just to throw me in crowd at the rise end of a BPRC title...

Sam : My Father, my Bro and then I put Nico, Remsey Lef and I as BPRC into the market via contacts I had and made. Nico's got no blood, only cash running through his veins!

5. Are the rest of the "Posse" full members of BPRC or just homies you sometimes collab with?
[Frankie, Count Bass, Wildchild Prince Po, Insight]

Nico : The core members of B.P.R.C are me as Calhoun, Remsey Lef and Sam aka Magnum (Coz in summer, he's wearing tiny shorts;) Frankie Numi is the beatmaker/remixer, he only speaks with the sounds and beats. The others, like Wildchild, who was at Remsey Lef's place to record some lyrics and at this time needed to rhyme to get some cash for a new car, true, are great peeps we met when mixing, getting some shouts out/drop for our radio show or doing interviews for a hip-hop magazine which no longer exists. We are kindly proud of having Count Bass D on the release coz nobody in France manages to get him but us.

6. What kinds of programs/equipment do you prefer to use for your production etc..?
[Strictly live recordings? Logic, Pro-Tools, Ableton Live, MPC, any other editing, looping, mixing or sampling tools?]

Nico : Mixed bottle of Whiskey/Vodka/Rum with Coca-Cola, (you can see sam 's answer...)

Frankie : An Akai S20 Sampler, Technics MK2 Tables, Cubase with a Keyboard and a Mic.

Sam : Nico uses a Rane table, two Technics turntables, a Serrato box and a computer. Sometimes only vinyl when he's playing strictly hip hop.

7. What would be your dream collaboration?
[If you could work with any other Producers/DJ's/musicians who are currently living today...]

Nico : We are building our own legend or at least trying, so I'm hoping I can spread our love of music, working with Remsey and meeting Asian chicks with big tits and big racks, so i can put in it a lot of cash and no longer use my wallet, left in El Segundo...

Frankie : I can say that I've already the dream collaboration with Calhoun because I really like and I have a big respect for a lot of producers/ beat makers/ DJ's but never with constance, I mean that I don't like the evolution. But with him it's the same way even if sometimes we have different opinions.

8. What Companies/Sponsors/Musicians are you working with to take BPRC to the next level?

Nico : Working with nice peeps like you....Everybody who's got faith in us aaaaaaaaaaahahahahahah!!!

Sam : Taking BPRC to the next level conists in being in the magazines, blogs, webzines, filling 3 interview's/week, having dates all around europe and cooperate with prestigious sponsors like New York clothing brand Love Brigade, I think we're doing pretty well these times.

9. Are you guys nervous about taking your craft worldwide? [The upcoming Euro & American Tour]

Nico : Not at all coz i'm the best DJ in the world when it comes to brag, don't you think so ? I got some skillz too!

Sam : I know they'll do well, as they're not sleeping that much, they've plenty of time to work !!!

10. What else is coming up for BPRC in the future? [Dreams, aspirations, goals?]

Nico : Still Tipping, I'm gonna put a "Trash 'n' Bitches" EP out under the name of Turbo Penis called: " Bitch I don't pay even I got a swimming pool full of cash'' and mixing, digging new rekkidz, getting drunk, ruling the world, acting in ''Entourage '' and ''Gossip Girl '' , you know the usual stuff...

Frankie : That people like us, that we spin around the world between 2 records, live of it, bring our state of mind in the game.

Sam : Continue mixing everywhere, releasing an electro Krutenau-Bounce EP, being on a TV ad, or putting Thierry's prods on one, getting into the Fashion week... banging cash and just having fun...

LOS ANGELES [AP] – Bettie Page, the 1950s secretary-turned-model whose controversial photographs in skimpy attire or none at all helped set the stage for the 1960s sexual revolution, died Thursday. She was 85.Born April 22, 1923, in Nashville, Tenn., Page said she grew up in a family so poor "we were lucky to get an orange in our Christmas stockings. "The family included three boys and three girls, and Page said her father molested all of the girls. After the Pages moved to Houston, her father decided to return to Tennessee and stole a police car for the trip. He was sent to prison, and for a time Betty lived in an orphanage. In her teens she acted in high school plays, going on to study drama in New York and win a screen test from 20th Century Fox before her modeling career took off.

Page was placed on life support last week after suffering a heart attack in Los Angeles and never regained consciousness, said her agent, Mark Roesler. He said he and Page's family agreed to remove life support. Before the heart attack, Page had been hospitalized for three weeks with pneumonia."She captured the imagination of a generation of men and women with her free spirit and unabashed sensuality," Roesler said. "She is the embodiment of beauty. "Page, who was also known as Betty, attracted national attention with magazine photographs of her sensuous figure in bikinis and see-through lingerie that were quickly tacked up on walls in military barracks, garages and elsewhere, where they remained for years. Her photos included a centerfold in the January 1955 issue of then-fledgling Playboy magazine, as well as controversial sadomasochistic poses. "I think that she was a remarkable lady, an iconic figure in pop culture who influenced sexuality, taste in fashion, someone who had a tremendous impact on our society," Playboy founder Hugh Hefner told The Associated Press on Thursday. "She was a very dear person."

Page mysteriously disappeared from the public eye for decades, during which time she battled mental illness and became a born-again Christian. After resurfacing in the 1990s, she occasionally granted interviews but refused to allow her picture to be taken."I don't want to be photographed in my old age," she told an interviewer in 1998. "I feel the same way with old movie stars.... It makes me sad. We want to remember them when they were young."The 21st century indeed had people remembering her just as she was. She became the subject of songs, biographies, Web sites, comic books, movies and documentaries. A new generation of fans bought thousands of copies of her photos, and some feminists hailed her as a pioneer of women's liberation.

Gretchen Mol portrayed her in 2005's "The Notorious Bettie Page" and Paige Richards had the role in 2004's "Bettie Page: Dark Angel." Page herself took part in the 1998 documentary "Betty Page: Pinup Queen."Hefner said he last saw Page when he held a screening of "The Notorious Bettie Page" at the Playboy Mansion. He said she objected to the fact that the film referred to her as "notorious," but "we explained to her that it referred to the troubled times she had and was a good way to sell a movie." Page's career began one day in October 1950 when she took a respite from her job as a secretary in a New York office for a walk along the beach at Coney Island. An amateur photographer named Jerry Tibbs admired the 27-year-old's firm, curvy body and asked her to pose.

Looking back on the career that followed, she told Playboy in 1998: "I never thought it was shameful. I felt normal. It's just that it was much better than pounding a typewriter eight hours a day, which gets monotonous. "Nudity didn't bother her, she said, explaining: "God approves of nudity. Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, they were naked as jaybirds. "In 1951, Page fell under the influence of a photographer and his sister who specialized in S&M. They cut her hair into the dark bangs that became her signature and posed her in spiked heels and little else. She was photographed with a whip in her hand, and in one session she was spread-eagled between two trees, her feet dangling."I thought my arms and legs would come out of their sockets," she said later.Moralists denounced the photos as perversion, and Sen. Estes Kefauver of Tennessee, Page's home state, launched a congressional investigation.

Page quickly retreated from public view, later saying she was hounded by Federal agents who waved her nude photos in her face. She also said she believed that, at age 34, her days as "the girl with the perfect figure" were nearly over. She moved to Florida in 1957 and married a much younger man, as an early marriage to her high school sweetheart had ended in divorce. Her second marriage also failed, as did a third, and she suffered a nervous breakdown. In 1959, she was lying on a sea wall in Key West when she saw a church with a white neon cross on top. She walked inside and became a born-again Christian. After attending Bible school, she wanted to serve as a missionary but was turned down because she had been divorced. Instead, she worked full-time for evangelist Billy Graham's ministry.

A move to Southern California in 1979 brought more troubles. She was arrested after an altercation with her landlady, and doctors who examined her determined she had acute schizophrenia. She spent 20 months in a state mental hospital in San Bernardino. A fight with another landlord resulted in her arrest, but she was found not guilty because of insanity. She was placed under state supervision for eight years. "She had a very turbulent life," Todd Mueller, a family friend and autograph seller, told The Associated Press on Thursday. "She had a temper to her. "Mueller said he first met Page after tracking her down in the 1990s and persuaded her to do an autograph signing event. He said she was a hit and sold about 3,000 autographs, usually for $200 to $300 each. "Eleanor Roosevelt, we got $40 to $50.... Bettie Page outsells them all," he told The AP last week...

LAS VEGAS [AP] — A broken O.J. Simpson has been sentenced to at least 15 years in prison for a Las Vegas hotel armed robbery by a judge who rejected his apology and said, "It was much more than stupidity."

Simpson stood stone-faced Friday when Judge Jackie Glass quickly rattled off his punishment after he pleaded with her that he didn't mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.

He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told that he was "sorry and confused" before going into a rambling and emotional 5-minute declaration.

"I didn't want to steal anything from anyone ... I'm sorry, sorry," he said.

Glass ruled before sentencing that Simpson cannot be freed on bail pending possible appeal.

O.J. Simpson had apologized to the judge at his sentencing hearing and said he didn't mean to steal from anybody when he tried to retrieve memorabilia.

Simpson made this statement before sentencing Friday in his armed robber case in a soft voice that was somewhat hoarse.

He appeared ready to break down in tears as he told Clark County District Court Judge Jackie Glass that he was "sorry and confused" before going into a rambling and emotional 5-minute declaration.

Last night, folk singer/civil rights pioneer Odetta passed on from complications related to heart disease and kidney failure, on New Years Eve she would have been 78...

With her classically trained voice, she championed the plight of slaves, farm workers, housewives, miners and wash women- black and white alike, as she showcased American folk music, jazz, negro spirituals, blues, prose and work songs in her moving performances...

Often refered to as "The Voice Of The Civil Rights Movement," Odetta was penned the "Queen of American Folk Music" by none other than Martin Luther King Jr. and was awarded The National Medal of the Arts, in 1999 by President Bill Clinton...

Her musical legacy was appreciated by and influenced the likes of Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Harry Belafonte, Janis Joplin and Tennesee Ernie Ford, to name a few...

Shortly after our previous post, I recall the grand moment I met the legendary Rudy Ray Moore while DJing at the 2004 Comic Con. Not only did I meet the man, I was his DJ at arms. Thank god there was a mic that day. He freestyled off the cuff, smooth as ever while I played doubles of Joe Budden's "Pump it Up." A truly amazing, and completely spontaneous moment. He was a gentleman and a professional and I was honored to be there. R.I.P. Dolemite a.k.a. Rudy Ray Moore.
